I do hope this email finds you all safe and well. No doubt the end of this year is going to close out a bit differently. However, there are still a couple things we would like to do to finish things up. I’m very sorry for the length of the email but both items discussed are extremely important to know for the upcoming weeks.
First, we are setting up the pick-up and return of items from the athletes on Monday, the 11th. This includes the athletes bringing all the equipment we gave to the athletes for the season and allowing them to clear out their lockers. All sub-Varsity should plan to arrive at the men’s field house between 8 – 10am…all Varsity players should arrive between 10am and noon. Sub Varsity players should plan to return BOTH the home (red) and away (white) Kits (jersey, shorts, and socks), their game day Warm-ups (tops and bottoms), practice hoodies, heavy Jackets (JV Black only), and backpacks. Varsity will return game day Warm-ups (tops and bottoms), practice hoodies, heavy Jackets, and backpacks. Please do make sure you bring all this equipment back at the designated time. Notes from the district are below and a map is attached to the email with details of the location that Men’s soccer is expected to enter/exit the field house (the back side, near the baseball/XC office). After the athletes hand in their items, they will be able to go to their lockers to clean out all personal belongings (please be sure to have a bag to carry personal items home with you).
Equipment Pick Up Schedule and Procedures
Pick Up Schedules:
Each group will be assigned a two hour window to pick up personal items and to turn in items that belong to the school/program. The scheduled windows for the different sports, and even different teams within each sport, are staggered in time as well as location to ensure proper social distancing guidelines can be maintained. Coaches for each sport will be present to facilitate entry into the locker room areas and to ensure that guidelines are being followed.
In addition to the schedules listed below, please find your teams entry path to ensure that you are dropping off and picking up in the correct location. We will have social distancing markings on the walkways and ask that you use them to line up single file while waiting to enter the building (ie. HEB). We will be allowing only 5 people into each locker room at one time. We understand that the times assigned may not fit into each family’s schedule. If a sub-varsity player’s schedule is a better fit during the varsity time slot (and vice versa), you are welcome to go during that time.
Pick Up / Drop Off Process:
Please wash all items being returned to the school. Returned items should be brought in a plastic bag (HEB or Ziploc)
The drop off and pick up process will be touchless. Students will enter their locker room at the direction of their coach, drop of items in the marked bins, and/or collect their belongings from their locker, and then exit the building. Coaches will not be assisting with the clearing of student lockers. Students are encouraged to bring a bag to transfer their belongings from their locker; if students do not wish to use their own bag, we will provide a trash bag for them. If there are any special circumstances or issues that need to be discussed with the coach, please do so ahead of time through school email. Coaches will not be able to have extended conversations during the drop off time.
All schedules and arrangements have been carefully and specifically designed with the health and safety of our staff, students, and parents in mind. Staff will be wearing protective equipment during item pickup, and we strongly encourage families to take the necessary precautions as well. While parents and students will be tempted to visit with other families, players, and coaches during this time, we ask that you please continue to practice social distancing and proceed through the process with promptness and considerations for others around you.
Please be reminded, if you or your child is sick, do not come to school for item pickup or return. We will make alternate arrangements for you and your family. Thank you
Secondly, we want to make sure we have some kind of time to close out the year with a way to honor the teams and players for their efforts during the season. Although we can’t get together in person, we are going to set up a virtual awards ceremony for the coaches to talk about the teams a bit and then award the team awards that we typically announce at the banquet. Due to the circumstances, it will not be a long event but will be more of a time to definitely speak about the successes of the season. We are expecting it to last about 30 minutes. I ask that on Tuesday, May 19th at 7pm, that the athletes and parents all gather to one device for the coaches to have a moment to address everyone in the program. Obviously, things ended very abruptly and all of our soccer coaches would like to have a moment to talk to everyone one last time before summer gets underway. Here is the link to the Google Hangout (pretty sure it will be easiest to use your sons account through the district to log in):

Again, I’m very sorry for the length of the email, but this information is important for closing out the year properly. We truly appreciate every single one of you and hope things will be able to get back to normal in the near future.
